Charlie

Based in Naarm (Melbourne), Charlie (they/them) is an emerging self-taught Wiradjuri artist, living and creating on the unceded land of the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people.

They have been creating art since childhood to process emotions and experiences, and at times to communicate their internal world with others.

In 2025 they shared their work with the public for the first time. They work primarily with acrylic and oil paint and explore wearable fibre art such as embroidery and crochet, alongside clay sculpture and poetry.

Their work is informed by a sense of disconnection from self and others, drawing on life experience as an Autistic person navigating interpersonal relationships.

Current themes explore the terror of connection, somatic symbiosis, and the gritty reality of transformation.
