ARTIST SOLOS
Robert Croft | Cam Michael
Opening Saturday 9 May 2026, Jump Left is pleased to present two concurrent solo exhibitions by Robert Croft and Cam Michael — the first in its new Artist Solo series.
Bringing together two distinct artistic voices, these solo exhibitions celebrate the breadth and vitality of contemporary Australian art practice. Working across drawing and glass respectively, both artists share a commitment to deeply personal, instinct-driven making.
Robert Croft, presented with the support of ArtGusto (Geelong), works with texture and colour to create drawings that reflect his intuitive and rhythmic approach to art-making. His works are immediate and expressive, inviting viewers into a visual world that is entirely his own.
Presented alongside Croft is Cam Michael, a multi-disciplinary artist from Canberra. For his solo exhibition at Jump Left, Michael presents a new series of glass works — luminous, considered, and quietly powerful — informed by his lived experience as a person with disability and as a member of the LGBTQ+ community. Michael has exhibited across Australia and completed a residency at Canberra Glassworks.
Together, these two exhibitions mark an exciting new chapter for Jump Left and its ongoing commitment to supporting artists with diverse practices and lived experiences.
This project is supported by Creative Projects funding from Creative Victoria, ArtGusto and venue partner Impact Neighbourhoods.

ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Robert Croft
Robert Croft’s application of any medium he uses gives a tactile quality to his work. He delights in the colour, texture and the rhythm of applying these mediums. The layers of colour and texture Croft achieves through his processes demonstrate the instinctual nature of this Artist.
An industrious worker, Croft enjoys working across a range of mediums and can draw reference from still life and the printed image; but mainly and most effectively his inspiration comes from the pure joy of creating. Croft is represented by ArtGusto in Geelong, where he is also a studio artist.
Cam Michael
Cam Michael is a mixed media artist living and working in Canberra, Australia, on Ngunnawal Country. His practice is driven by an interest in social inclusion, exploring themes of redefined value and potential, and the relationships between personal identity and perception in the spaces we inhabit.
His work is broadly informed by lived experience — including disability, caring, identifying as LGBTIQ, and the experience of migration, having grown up in Aotearoa New Zealand before moving to Australia in his twenties. These are experiences not always visible, or valued, in mainstream society.
It is from this position that Michael has developed a deep interest in the perspectives of the 'other' — and in the transformative benefits that social inclusion and diverse viewpoints can bring. His practice frequently references the everyday as a shared space where people can connect, regardless of background or experience.
