“There’s a lot of colour and humour in Housecat’s work. Breakout at the Zoo depicts a scene very like a prison break. One of the zoo cats—maybe the ringleader?—is disguised as security. Examining the CCT footage, we see a variety of inmates breaking through the wall. Twinkling stars and moonlight show they waited for cover of darkness. Who’s now on the run? Roll call, please! If they hope to stay free, they might need to lose the giraffe—he’s clearly their lookout, but can he keep his head down?”—Pixie Albert

ABOUT

Housecat, who joined Find Your Voice Collective in 2025, describes himself as an “explorer of worlds,” “god of gangsters,” and “friend to all critters.”

His bold visual style is deeply influenced by the cartoons and movies he grew up with—Back to the Future, E.T., and the films of Studio Ghibli.

While seemingly playful on the surface, Housecat’s work explores universal themes of kindness, absurdity, horror, and radical acceptance, offering a layered and thought-provoking visual language.
