Pixie Albert Reflection
STELLA CHILDS

So much comes to mind when I look at Stella Child’s Free Drawing 1. I see colourful beach boxes, amongst a merry dance of beach balls bobbing in the ocean. I see rainbow rays from the sun streaming in, as it pokes its way through the clouds—and wait… are they festival bunting flags? Is there a carnival going on? But then that’s really only my interpretation of the artwork…Tell me, what do you see?

ARTIST REFLECTIONS
By Pixie Albert

Writer and artist Pixie Albert offers intimate glimpses into seven works featured in CONVERGENCE through personal written responses.

Rather than traditional descriptions, these reflections capture the emotional resonance and individual experience of encountering each artwork. Albert's poetic observations invite audiences to see through fresh eyes, revealing hidden layers and unexpected connections within the exhibition.

These contemplative pieces can be read or listened to, adding a rich dimension to the visual experience, and demonstrating how art speaks differently to each of us.

ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Stella Childs joined The Art Factory (Albury) in 2025 and is an artist led by intuition and contemplation.

What she describes as her “free drawings” are hyper colourful and boldly patterned. Inspired by shapes and patterns in everyday life, Childs’ drawings on first look seem simple, however on closer inspection reveal the detail and hours in the mark-making.

Her artwork Free Drawing I (2025) was chosen as the face of the exhibition due to its intercepting line work and diverse colours and patterns which reflect the values and diversity of the exhibitions studios and artists.

Childs has been developing her practice through dedicated studio work and collaborative projects. CONVERGENCE marks her first group exhibition.
