Pixie Albert Reflection
JESSICA MADDEN
The unique pattens on a patchwork quilt, form the background of Jessica Madden’s Siana the Cat. Siana is stretched out and has made herself comfortable. I can picture her big almond eyes blinking with love, and a big rumbling purr. I love the details of the fluff in her ears and the yellow and black spots on her beautiful coat. In a few minutes, she’ll put her head down to sleep, and drift off into pussycat dream land with thoughts of cosy quilts, making biscuits, and dinner. Life is good, for Siana the cat…

ARTIST REFLECTIONS
By Pixie Albert
Writer and artist Pixie Albert offers intimate glimpses into seven works featured in CONVERGENCE through personal written responses.
Rather than traditional descriptions, these reflections capture the emotional resonance and individual experience of encountering each artwork. Albert's poetic observations invite audiences to see through fresh eyes, revealing hidden layers and unexpected connections within the exhibition.
These contemplative pieces can be read or listened to, adding a rich dimension to the visual experience, and demonstrating how art speaks differently to each of us.
ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Jessica Madden joined ArtGusto in 2019, and is known for her distinctive approach to drawing, combining coloured shapes with layered imagery.
Unafraid to experiment, she works across a range of mediums—including paint, pastel, and marker on paper—to develop her bold and recognisable style.
Her work Olivia the Cat (2023) highlights her unique ability to build texture through mixed media while abstracting shapes and layering forms to amplify her subject matter.
Through her practice at ArtGusto, Madden creates vibrant works full of pattern, texture, and play—often celebrating her love of nature and cats. Her art invites viewers to embrace a sense of wonder and expression, conveyed through a dynamic blend of gestural and precise mark-making.
