Vickie Lock
A Naarm (Melbourne) multidisciplinary artist whose experimental practice explores themes of urban decay, mould, and the cyclical nature of life.
Fascinated by the aesthetics of imperfection, Lock draws inspiration from overlooked and decomposing subjects, challenging conventional notions of beauty.
Lock’s work is rooted in material experimentation, often combining unconventional substances such as various forms of sugar with watercolour to produce unique surface effects. These alchemical processes result in richly textured, rough yet glossy finishes that give her bird’s-eye and microscopic perspectives a striking three-dimensional quality. Lock’s art invites viewers to find wonder in decay and to reconsider what is traditionally seen as undesirable.
Lock has exhibited in group exhibitions in Naarm (Melbourne)
